How to read the result
The calculation multiplies your mileage by economy and by the price of each energy type. The electricity price is a blend: you set home electricity and charging-station prices separately, and the slider sets how much you charge at home versus on the road. Charging at home overnight is cheapest; public rapid charging costs more.
Frequently asked questions
- Where do the prices come from?
- Reasonable UK defaults for 2026 (petrol, diesel, LPG and home/public electricity). Fuel is priced per litre, economy in MPG (imperial gallon). You can replace any value with your own.
- Why is the electricity cost so low?
- Because it assumes mostly home charging. If you rely on public rapid chargers, raise the charging-station price and move the slider towards the road.
- Does it include depreciation and servicing?
- No. This compares energy cost only. Broader running costs are out of scope for now.
